Hypopressives training was formulated in the 1980s in Spain, but Dr Marcel Caufriez. It is taught and practised by thousands of therapists and fitness professionals in countries such as Belgium and Spain, it is used as part of hospital procedures and postpartum recovery protocols.

It has been used for years in these countries, by urinary-gynaecological physiotherapists, to treat prolapses and incontinence and it has a strong clinical background. But as much of the method’s research findings are in Spanish, only recently is the knowledge filtering through to the English-speaking world.

At UK Hypopressives, our intention is to help inform, educate and train the public and health and fitness professionals about the truly staggering benefits of this practise, having ourselves been trained by Dr Caufriez’s organisation in Spain.

We never cease to be amazed at its transformative effect on our client’s lives. It has been such an effective treatment for so many physical issues, that we think its crazy for it to remain a secret! We teach Hypropressives to our clients, but also health professionals and the fitness industry, and we have built a network of qualified instructors nationwide.

Nikki Scott

Nikki is a health and fitness coach specialising in women’s health and rehab back to exercise using Hypopressives.

She had twin boys in her early thirties and this led her on her own post natal recovery journey and ultimately to discover that women’s health services are inadequate and often leave women feeling desperate and alone.

In 2013 Nikki became one of the first master trainers in Hypopressives in the UK, after studying in London and Spain. Nikki is co- founder of UK Hypopressives alongside her partner Richard Peterson. Their company runs training courses online and in person for Health and Fitness professionals and the general public advocating for a more natural non- surgical way to heal pelvic floor dysfunction.

Away from the world of fitness Nikki is a keen cook, she loves books and feels there is nothing better than being in nature with her mini bull terrier Wilson. She has a quirky sense of style and is very much know for her love of shoes! More recently she has re-discovered a love for football and loves spending time with her partner Richard supporting Brentford FC whenever she can.

Richard Peterson

Richard Peterson is a Health and Fitness Coach, nutritionist and Level 5 Remedial and Sports Massage Therapist. It was during his fitness coaching that he had a number of ante and post natal clients, as well as significant numbers with lower back pain and postural issues.

Although trained to coach pregnant and post natal women, he just didn’t feel that the training out there was good enough to get women back in the shape that they wanted to be and, particularly, to re-programme the core and help women regain their pre-pregnancy bodies.

It was really by chance that he discovered the first certified Hypopressives Fundamentals Course in the UK in London in 2012. It’s true to say that he took a chance on the course but the outcome couldn’t have been better!

Since learning Fundamental and Advanced Hypopressives in London he has travelled to Banyoles in Spain to complete the Hypopressives Expert Level Certification. This makes him, along with UK Hypopressives co-founder Nikki Scott, one of only two Expert level instructors in the UK.

Learning Hypopressives has transformed the way he now works with his clients, mainly due to the wide ranging application of the method. So, those pre and post natal women, as well as the ones with pain and postural issues, are able to find solutions to their particular problems.

When not instructing clients in Hypopressives, Richard has his own portfolio of personal training clients and trains actors for major film and TV roles. He’s also father to three young boys who take up the rest of his time and energy!
